Kieran Foran makes his long awaited return to the NRL and it cannot come quick enough for the Warriors.

The star playmaker was due to come back last week but broke down in the warm up against the Dragons, which set the scene perfectly for the Warriors who fell apart and dropped the game 26-12.

They host the Gold Coast who will be equally as keen to break their bad start to the season. Having won their first game two weeks ago, errors proved costly at home against the Cowboys who stole the win 32-26.

FORAN NAMED

Foran has been named at five-eighth to partner the talented Shaun Johnson.

On paper, NZ Warriors have one of the strongest sides in the competition and all their big guns are available for the first time this season.

Overall the team has struggled this season and have dropped three straight leading into this. Their only win was against a plucky Knights outfit in Round 1 and they barely escaped with that in a 26-22 decision.

The addition of Foran will complement Johnson and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s running ability to expect the trio to cause big headaches for the Titans defence.

INJURY CONCERNS

The Gold Coast might rue the loss to the Cowboys last week.

It is definitely the one that got away as they had North Queensland on the ropes several times throughout the match, however, their defence and discipline let them down when they needed it most.

Hoping to build some momentum off the back of beating Parramatta at home, Gold Coast produced 11 errors and conceded seven penalties in front of their fans and despite dominating several stats, couldn’t get the job done.

THE HISTORY

This is the game the Warriors needed to have.

The Kiwis have won 11 of the past 12 clashes against the Titans and five of the past six at Mt Smart Stadium.

Interestingly, New Zealand has scored at least 20 points in each of their past 12 clashes against the Titans. Taking the Warriors to Score Over 20.5 Points is paying $1.54 with Sportsbet.

THE VERDICT

The introduction of Foran into the game swings the balance of power towards the home side.

Although this is his first game back for a long time, you cannot put a price on class and his addition to the team will lift the side dramatically.

Gold Coast have been competitive in all their games this season but traveling across the Tasman hasn’t been kind to them in the past. Throw into the mix injuries to key players like Jarryd Hayne and the depth of their squad is tested. Neil Henry will also be without workhorse Agnatius Paasi for this one.

NZ WARRIORS have won just one of their past eight games and will be looking to avoid the terrible 1-4 start to the season, of which only five of 29 teams have gone on to make the finals since 2007. Gold Coast are also in the same boat. Each side has had 1-4 starts previously and never recovered sufficiently to play finals football that season.
