BRISBANE BRONCOS vs SYDNEY ROOSTERS - Thursday night 7:50pm, Suncorp Stadium

Two heavyweight contenders kick things for punters in Round 6 of the NRL.

BRISBANE and SYDNEY ROOSTERS will be looking to bounce back from defeats last weekend in what should be one of the games of the season so far.

The Broncos lost a dour struggle against the Bulldogs 10-7 in driving rain down in Sydney while the Roosters suffered their first defeat of 2017 when going down to Manly 18-12.

Brisbane has only won two of their opening five games but go into this match as favourites.

Of all teams in 2017 it could be argued they’ve had the hardest run of anyone but when you look at their three losses, they’ve only been by miniscule margins. In fact, their average margin in defeat is just two points.

Their defence has actually been one of the best in the competition and currently sees them third in the NRL for points conceded (15ppg) behind the Storm and Dragons.

The dream start to 2017 is over for the Roosters.

Winners of their opening four games, they finally fell in a thriller against Manly last week but you shouldn’t underestimate this Roosters outfit.

Where Trent Robinson’s side went wrong was their completions (71.1%) and a whopping 38 missed tackles against the in-form Sea Eagles. Errors killed their momentum and if they can handle the ball more carefully this week then you are likely to see the same team we saw go 4-0 in the opening month.

No team has really dominated the other in recent times.

They have actually traded wins and losses the past five times they have met but we have found an advantage for the Broncos here. Wayne Bennett’s outfit has won the past three contests at Suncorp Stadium by an average of 11 points.

A Brisbane win by 1-12 in margin betting is returning $3 with William Hill.

This is going to be a spectacular game no doubt about it.

Brisbane hold the aces though with the game being at Suncorp and the fact they have been extremely competitive against the best sides in the competition.

The Broncos have won five of the past six games at home with the only loss being the Golden Point verdict against the Cowboys back in Round 2.

There is no doubt that the Roosters are going to be extremely hard to beat but at this stage of the season, and off the back of a six-day turnaround, we think the home side has the advantage.

Other tip:

BRISBANE TO SCORE FIRST TRY – they have done so in every game they have played this season
