The Titans will be desperate for the two points when they take on the Raiders in the middle peg of Saturday afternoon footy.

After beginning the season 1-4, Gold Coast return home after a heartbreaking defeat to the Warriors in New Zealand last weekend.

Their opponents in Canberra were never seriously tested last week against the Eels and ran out convincing 30-18 winners.

Remarkably the Gold Coast, who have only won one match this season, have the third best attack in the NRL. They are averaging 23.6 points per game with only the Dragons and Raiders having scored more points through five rounds.

The major problem for the Titans has been their defence which ranks them 15th in the competition (28ppg) with the Tigers only leaking more points.

In their four losses they have conceded 32, 34, 32 and 28 points respectively which is definitely not good enough to win games in this competition, regardless of how many points you can score.

Many are tipping the Raiders to make a strong charge at the title this season but coach Ricky Stuart would’ve wanted a stronger start than 2-3.

In fairness they have been very competitive in all but one game and lost narrowly against the Cowboys and Broncos on the road.

After dropping back-to-back games to start the season, Canberra smashed the Tigers before going down to the Broncos at Suncorp 13-12 but then bounced back last week to beat Parramatta easily.

All three of their performances had plenty of merit and signs that they are improving each week, which spells danger signs for the Gold Coast.

Canberra go into this having won three of the past five clashes but historically the Titans have it over them with 11 of wins from 19 matches.

When it comes to matches played at Cbus Super Stadium the sides have alternated wins and losses in the past five games, with the Green Machine having won at this venue back in Round 16 last year.

An interesting stat between these sides could guide us to the Overs when it comes to Total Points. The last five times they’ve played there has been an average of 52.5 points score. Bet365 have over 46.5 Points at $1.97.

You have to with the visitors here.

Coach Neil Henry has had to deal with an injury crisis to start the season and although he gets back the likes of Anthony Don and Konrad Hurrell for this, you would think the high-powered Canberra attack will be too much for their defence.

We believe their match against the Warriors would have taken it out of them physically and mentally, especially when you consider they were leading by 22-12 at half time and didn’t score a point in the second half to eventually be run down.

Canberra have shown us enough in recent weeks to suggest they probably have a bit too much in the tank here although we don’t think it will be a blow out by any means.
