AUSTRALIA KANGAROOS vs NEW ZEALAND KIWIS - Friday night 8.00pm, GIO Stadium, Canberra

Here we go kicking off Rep round with an International against our old enemies – New Zealand. I have been there the last few times they have played each other and each time the Kangaroos have smashed their Kiwi counterparts. I was at Anfield when they absolutely demolished them and even though this is a better looking Kiwi side with Tuivasa-Scheck and Foran in there, the spine is a Warriors spine and it isn’t exactly like they are setting the world on fire. They are a decent side but they aren’t the same calibre as the Australians.

The Aussies do have their own queries with a few players out of form and an injury cloud hanging over key man Thurston. However I am sure they have all been managed perfectly and the best will come out of all players, resulting in a very easy victory to AUSTRALIA. Going a step further the value does look in AUSTRALIA 13+ ($2.72) and expecting the ease of victory I do, this looks a good bet.

I really like Fifita back in the team, I think he is a superstar and as such, I expect him to use his hulking frame early on, so let’s roll with ANDREW FIFITA ($36) to Score First Try. Big odds about a big human. Big humans are great!

I also want to roll the dice on a Man-Of-The-Match award. I have found a 16-1 chance whom I think will give this a real shake. DARIUS BOYD. He is in the best form of his career at the moment, being a stand out for the Broncos and in fact a stand out in a competition blessed with many good fullbacks, whom he has kept all at bay for this role in the Australian team. He is playing great football and he will be on the field for 80 minutes, which is important when considering this kind of award.

Should be a great game of footy but Australia will run away with it.

COUNTRY vs CITY – Sunday afternoon 4.00pm, Mudgee

Originally I thought the Country mob would be a shoe-in given all the scratchings, but they have come up with a decent team, especially when you take a look at their backline. However can they match it with the passion of the country blokes when it comes to this final game? I am going to stick with COUNTRY to win this clash. The simple reason being – it means more to them. These country blokes are really proud of their heritage from our bush, whilst the city slickers might be a level down on the passion factor. The game is being played in Mudgee so the crowd support will be lopsided towards Country, and all in all it points to the folk from the bush getting the job done.  It will be no cakewalk, COUNTRY 1-12 ($3.10) is a good bet in these circumstances.

Looking towards a First Try Scorer: DAMIEN COOK. He is a super player and he would be my starting hooker in the State Of Origin side. He has great speed and vision, and could really City early doors.

The bookies will come out with a Man-Of-The-Match market closer to time. Another player whom is going really well in a average side is CODY WALKER. He will relish a sniff at Rep football and look to him to guide Country to a win in the last ever City/ Country fixture.
