A massive game between two sides in what is shaping as a mini final.

A fork in the road for both these teams who hold a season record of 5-4. The winner will be comfortably in the top eight, for the loser, back in the pack and a betting outsider to play finals.

Both these teams have had a similar season, winning five games, looking outstanding at times, having no luck with injury and losing against the West Coast Eagles in Perth in heartbreaking fashion.

These teams have split last four contests and most have been thrilling finishes including the Saints 15-point win in Round 18 at Etihad Stadium last season.

St Kilda legend Nick Riewoldt was dominant that day booting a game winning four goals and after a lean fortnight he will need to be at his best to get the Saints back on track.

Both teams come into this game as beaten favourites last week. The Bulldogs have in fact lost back-to-back matches and three of their past four so the champs will be keen to get back to winning ways.

The winner of this game will put themselves back in premiership contention with the best odds available on them winning the flag being $8.50 on the Dogs and $34 for the Saints.

The Bulldogs have been playing better than their season record suggests and should have too much midfield depth for the Saints.

After a rare quiet game last week both Marcus Bontempelli and Jackson Macrae will be keen to bounce back with big games and can provide the difference.

Bontempelli had 19 disposals and was inaccurate in front of goal managing just three behinds while Macrae had 23 disposals, a big drop from the 32 he had the week before against West Coast.

Tom Boyd showed a return to form last week with two goals and will have the luxury of spending more time up forward this week with the return of Roughead.

Boyd will be worth looking at for a roughie in the Most Goals market and will provide the Bulldogs with a key focal point up forward.

Star Saint Jack Steven had 39 touches when these teams played last and looks a good most disposals bet.
