There was only one real surprise from this week’s round.

While most of the favourites won in Round 13 of the NRL, the only real shock was the Bulldogs losing to Penrith. It wasn’t so much that they lost – they were underdogs – but it was the manner in which they lost.

Elsewhere it was business as usual for the Storm, Dragons and Roosters who all secured themselves in the top four by the end of the weekend.

GARETH WIDDOP – the Dragons captain made a successful return on Saturday against the Wests Tigers.

The Red V appeared a little flat coming off the bye but they were in control for most of the match and it was Widdop who played a big hand, scoring two tries in the 16-12 triumph.

The $2.45 about them to Make the Top 4 (@Topbetta) looks the goods for us as we think they are one of the best teams in the comp. Losing Tyson Frizell due to injured ribs hopefully won’t derail them.

CANTERBURY– we tipped them to beat Penrith but how terrible were they?

It is the second time this season that Des Hasler’s side has been kept scoreless with their 38-nil defeat the worst so far this campaign.

William Hill have them at $5 to Make the Top 8 but even that looks unders considering they have dropped four straight. Next up they have the Dragons.

CANBERRA – most bookies still have them tight in the market to win the premiership but they are beginning to get an unwanted reputation.

The Golden Point defeat to Manly was their second in such fashion against the Sea Eagles this season while it is their fifth defeat by less than a converted try in 2017.

On their day they are a genuine premiership threat but for now we are happy to speck the $1.75 @ William Hill about them just to Make the Top 8.
