It's always tricky picking games the round following Origin, however, I'm pretty happy with what I've come up with! Who's with me?

NZ WARRIORS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Friday 6pm, MT Smart Stadium

I’m tipping the Panthers here because, like a lot of people, I just can’t trust the Warriors! To be fair, the Panthers haven’t been much better this season, however, at $2.75, I can’t not tip them!

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a very open affair. When these two last played it finished up 36-28 to the Panthers after a brilliant second half comeback. There’s some serious attacking firepower in both teams and it might actually come down to who can lift their defense at the crucial stages.

Being 9th vs 10th on the ladder both sides will still believe they are in with a shot at finals, although, I’m happy to say that the loser of this game is as good as done. I’m just hoping it’s not my Panthers!

For a smart bet, play Panthers 1-12 – they haven’t really flogged anyone this year (bar the Knights). For my first try scorer play, I’m siding with Waqa Blake – he hasn’t scored a whole heap lately but he always looks threatening.

Outright Match Winner:

PANTHERS

PANTHERS 1-12

WAQA BLAKE

CANBERRA RAIDERS vs ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS - Friday night 7.50pm, GIO Stadium

Interesting game this one, mainly due to the remarkable history between these two clubs. For a long while the Raiders had a huge hoodoo over the Dragons down in Canberra, however, recently that’s changed with the Dragons winning the last two times they’ve played at GIO.

The Raiders have been massive disappointments this year, and you know what, despite what the bookies are saying, I can’t tip them here! Their odds are ridiculously short in my opinion, so give me the Dragons at $2.75 any day of the week! The Dragons have a ton of ex-Raiders players in their squad so I’m really expecting them all to lift to show the higher-ups at Canberra what they missed out on!

Let’s side with Gareth Widdop for first tryscorer, he’s scored a few this year and is playing with great confidence. However, we won’t get too carried away, stick with the Dragons 1-12 only.

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS - Saturday 5.30pm, McDonald Jones Stadium

Look, the Broncos have a few players backing up from origin here, but I still expect them to win. At the end of the day Newcastle simply aren’t a proper first grade side – they showed it in their last 5 minutes against the Bulldogs last week. They simply can’t get the job done.

For Brisbane, I’d imagine blokes like Maguire and Gillet will be pretty sore after Wednesday night’s efforts. However, I reckon Ben Hunt will be feeling pretty fresh! He played all of 9 minutes in the decider! I’ve also heard Anthony Milford is a big chance of making his return in this one – that would be a huge plus for the Broncs!

I’m tipping a big win for the Broncos, so let’s get on them 13+ and throw in Jimmy the Jet for your first tryscorer.

BRONCOS 13+

GOLD COAST TITANS vs CRONULLA SHARKS - Saturday 7.30pm, Cbus Super Stadium

When these two sides met earlier this year at Cronulla there was a big upset, with the Titans getting home with a late try. It’s not out of the realms of possibility that they could get another win against the defending premiers here.

A lot will depend on who actually backs up in this one. I think both Hayne and Peats need to play for the Titans to have a hope. Meanwhile, the Sharkies have plenty of players backing up themselves – one who will be filled with confidence is Valentine Holmes. After coming off a brilliant three try performance on Wednesday I think we’ve got to stick with him to score first here.

I’ve also got to side with the Sharks to win. I honestly think they will go back-to-back and win the comp again this year (when it rains it pours!). Segeyaro has been named in the squad and will help them immensely if he’s in the final 17 – assuming that’s the case I’m happy to go Sharks 13+.

Outright Match Winner:

SHARKS

SHARKS 13+

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs WESTS TIGERS - Sunday 2.00pm, Lottoland

Manly have had a brilliant year and have exceeded all expectations. If they have their heads on here they simply win – no question. Last week’s loss to the Panthers can be forgiven. They were up against it with the penalty count 14-4 and it just felt like the bounce of the ball was not going their way.

The Tigers have been shocking and still have a big chance of claiming the wooden spoon. The one positive you can say about them is that they have some decent attacking firepower. For that reason, I’m pretty confident this game will go over 44.5 points – get on!

I think Tom Trbojevic will have a field day in this one. He really should be carving a defensively frail side like the Tigers right up! Jump on him for first-tryscorer. Also, don’t be afraid to get on Manly 13+ - they will likely cover that with ease so it should be a stress free bet.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS - Sunday 4.00pm, Barlow Park (Cairns)

It’s the Cowboys lucky day - Souths are taking this home game up to Cairns where there will be plenty of North Queensland fans.

This is a tricky game to pick. Obviously the Cowboys are without Johnathan Thurston for the rest of the year but I was pleasantly surprised with how they performed in their last match without him. Michael Morgan is playing with plenty of confidence and has stepped up strongly in JT’s absence.

On the other side of the coin, I can’t forget how good the Bunnies were two weeks back when they toweled up Penrith in a dominant display of attacking footy. I think they were unlucky in losing to the Roosters last week and will be keen to chalk up another win here.

I’m going to side with the bunnies, but not with a whole lot of confidence I must admit. Let’s just go with them 1-12. Also, be sure to throw Alex Johnston in for first tryscorer – he’s leading the comp for tries and could find his way to the line blindfolded!

SOUTHS 1-12
