PARRAMATTA EELS vs GOLD COAST TITANS - Thursday 8pm, ANZ

I am expecting Parramatta to step up after blowing two points last week against the Knights.

You can understand they probably went into that game dropping their guard a little and I suppose the same could happen here.

Parramatta needs to win because they have everything to play for. Back them to win but I reckon it will be close because teams coming under fire, like the Titans, have a tendency to lift in those situations.

Off the back of that the 1-12 Winning Margin looks the goods. I don’t mind the Titans / Eels half-full double either. When looking at the first tryscorer markets, Anthony Don will give you something to cheer for.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS - Friday 6pm, ANZ

The Rabbitohs have been in form lately and for mine look one of the better bets on the weekend.

New Zealand dropped a stack of games in the back end of last season when they weren’t in finals contention and the same thing is happening again here. They have lost six straight and don’t look like winning any time soon.

Madge has blooded a few youngsters and it seems to have made the world of difference to Souths who are playing with enthusiasm again. The Burgess boys are doing well again along with Adam Reynolds, Cody Walker and Alex Johnston.

Outright Match Winner:

RABBITOHS

BRISBANE BRONCOS vs STGEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS - Friday 7.50pm, Suncorp Stadium

I’ll admit I underestimated the Broncos – but not anymore!

They are playing some great footy and look to have come out of the Origin period a far better footy team than they went into it. Kodi Nikorima is going great guns in the halves while Anthony Milford was electric last week against the Sharkies.

Brisbane has a strong record over the Dragons and have won 11 of the past 12 clashes while the merged entity hasn’t tasted success at Suncorp since 2009. While Stgeorge Illawarra were going great early in the season, they have been up and down for the past three months and simply need to show me more before I start tipping them to cause a big upset here.

BRONCOS 13+

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS vs MELBOURNE STORM - Saturday 3.00pm, McDonald Jones Stadium

Congratulations to the Knights on what they have been able to achieve lately.

I couldn’t be any happier for Nathan Brown and his side who have played some really attractive footy and been rewarded with three straight wins, however, they face a mountain too high here in the Melbourne Storm.

The worst football that the Storm produces isn’t too far from their best and they will provide the Knights with their stiffest test for some time. Newcastle will give them a run for their money but for my hard earned, and yours, it’s Melbourne all the way.

I’m really keen on the Overs (Total Points) which is around 44.5 with most bookies. When it comes to the Margins, Storm 13+ all the way while my First Tryscorer bet is Josh Addo-Carr – I like mixing up the Storm wingers so we’ll cheer him on to beat his teammate Suliasi to the punch.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS vs WESTS TIGERS - Saturday 5.30pm, Allianz Stadium

It’s equal second versus second last and I am tipping the Sydney Roosters will bounce back here. They were very good when going down narrowly to the Storm last week and only have to reproduce that effort to get the two points here.

Trent Robinson’s side will be keen for a win because they have hopes of finishing top two and if they lose here they may find themselves struggling to get a top four spot in a few weeks time.

The Wests Tigers have been good lately and got a deserved win against Manly but the Roosters have Boyd Cordner and Jake Friend back from injury with a run under their belt, which will help. Michael Gordon is also returns to the fullback spot so for mine they will pack too many punches for the Tigers.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs CRONULLA SHARKS – Saturday 7.30pm, 1300Smiles Stadium

Wow, what a game this will be because it is so important for both sides.

North Queensland has been decimated by injuries and I feel sorry for Paul Green because he is having to call on all his reserves in order to keep his team competitive. The boys have been doing a great job but have now lost three straight which rings big alarm bells.

The Sharkies are on a bit of a slide too and I want to see the venom return to their defence which is something that hasn’t happened in the past fortnight. Cronulla don’t have the best record in Townsville but they are usually competitive and that is what is tipping me towards them.

Flano’s boys need a win here because if they don’t get it they may be kissing their top four chances goodbye. As for the Cowboys, well, they could find themselves out of the eight altogether by the end of the round if results go against them.

It will be desperate for both sides so on that basis I am tipping Cronulla to win 1-12 with Sosaia Feki as my pick for First Tryscorer.

SHARKS 1-12

CANBERRA RAIDERS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Sunday 2.00pm, GIO Stadium

This is pretty much an elimination final in my eyes. Whoever loses this may very well miss out on the top eight.

Canberra need to keep on winning and cannot afford to lose another game and that desperation has seem them rack up three straight wins. I am going for the upset here and tipping the Panthers.

I have been on Penrith a lot lately and they’ve won six straight without really putting in an 80 minute performance. I can’t believe they are the outsiders here!

One of my best bets for the weekend is the Total Points Over 43.5. Sunday afternoon footy, perfect weather – it has all the right conditions for plenty of points to be scored. The value will be in my First Tryscorer pick in Matty Moylan who has eight tries so far this season.

Outright Match Winner:

PANTHERS

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs MANLY SEA EAGLES – Sunday 4.00pm, ANZ Stadium

You can’t tip the Bulldogs!

I’ve given them a few chances in recent weeks and been burnt so they are done for mine which makes tipping this one an easy decision.

Manly will be keen to bounce back from last week’s shock loss to the Tigers even though they are in a bit of rut. After knocking off the chooks they would have expected to beat the Tiges but that could be two points they will rue come the end of the season.

Either way they have been showing far more than the Dogs in recent weeks who have been easy meat for whoever they have played.

SEA EAGLES

SEA EAGLES 13+
