Summary: The Panthers and their supporters are eager to put the Cleary & Cleary product out on the pitch in 2019. After swallowing his pride, Gus Gould got his man; Ivan Cleary has signed a 5-year coaching deal with the Penrith Panthers. Ivan’s brand of starchy defensive oriented footy is exactly what the Panthers need after a disappointing season which saw them need to overcome a deficit in 10 of their 15 wins. The Panthers have a strong roster as they boast arguably the strongest development system in the league. This team has the spine and NRL IQ throughout the roster to really start to live up to pre-season expectation. Maloney’s pedigree and the talent in Nathan Cleary will really heat the competition up in 2019.
Key stat: The Panthers ranked #5 in line breaks and tackle breaks in 2018.
