Summary: The Roosters are the red-hot favourites entering 2019 and the repeat is well and truly on the cards. The team’s core group has been retained but they’ve also added quality pieces such as Angus Crichton and Brett Morris. The Roosters have already won their first trophy of the season downing Wigan in the WCC challenge. While some are marvelling at their offensive weapons, it was, in fact, the Roosters’ defence, which was their identity. In the Semi-Final and Grand Final, the boys from Bondi flexed their defensive muscle and stifled opposing attacks. As long as Mitchell and Tedesco are fully fit, this time can go to a gear that no other team can. No team has gone back to back since the Broncos did in ’92-’93. Will the Roosters break that drought?
Key stat: The Roosters ranked #1 in points allowed and post-contact metres in 2018.
