Summary: The Tigers were tipped by every man and his dog to earn the wooden spoon in 2018. Insert an Ivan Cleary and the Tigers came up just shy of playing finals footy. Luke Brooks was instrumental in steering the no-frills Tigers throughout the season, often earning Dally M points when the Tigers performed well. Unfortunately, the Tigers have lost Ivan Cleary but have a premiership winner in Michael Maguire taking over. Their brand of no-frills, gritty footy suits the players they have in the squad. Most importantly it suits the style of play that Maguire will likely instil right from the jump. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maguire improves their defensive statistics, which gives the Tigers a little bit of value to sneak into the Top 8.

Key stat: The Tigers ranked #2 in missed tackles and #3 in set completion in 2018.
