This weekend's 5 best bets
This weekend's best bets cover The Championships, NRL, AFL and Premier League.
NRL – South Sydney Rabbitohs v New Zealand Warriors
The Tip: Souths 13+
Why: The Bunnies will be disappointed they couldn’t ice the game last week against Manly. Reynolds usually reliable goal-kicking became a liability and I expect him and the rest of the team to bounce back strongly here.
Souths have won seven of their last eight against the Warriors – their last six wins all coming by 13+.
Horse Racing – Randwick Race 8 Sydney Cup
The Tip: Dubhe
Why: He’s lightly-raced, on the up and coming off a 4- length romp over the distance in Dubai. Can push forward on a moderate to slow tempo from barrier 4 to sit just off the lead. He’ll be the one they have to come after with just 52.5kg on his back.
Premier League – Fulham v Everton
The Tip: Everton
Why: Fulham have lost all-but-one Premier League match in 2019, and I don’t see their relegation sparking any sort of improvement.
Everton absolutely battered Arsenal last weekend—despite only winning 1-0—and three away victories from their last five convinces me they’ll beat Fulham.
AFL – St Kilda v Hawthorn
The Tip: Hawthorn
Why: The Hawks have owned the rivalry in recent seasons, winning eight of their last 10 against the Saints. The Saints are playing with a new belief and look a harder team to beat, but the Hawks have the class edge across most of the park and should prove too strong.
NRL – Canberra Raiders v Parramatta Eels
The Tip: Raiders
Why: Canberra are no longer pushovers – particularly late in games – they once were. They’re competing for longer, winning better field position and onto a winning formula with their revamped pack.
Adding to this, the Raiders have won 10 of their last 12 starts against the Eels and the last time the Eels won in Canberra was 2006.
