Tedesco was a deserved Man of the Match in Game 1, can he do it again?

James Tedesco was enormous in Game I and was a deserved winner of the Man of the Match award, however, he has some serious history to defy if he is to earn the award once more.

Tedesco is the $8 equal fav for Player of the Match but no one since Greg Bird a decade ago has won the award in consecutive Origin games.

The Roosters fullback will certainly give himself every chance to do it though as he will be a vital cog for the Blues going forward. He racked up 224 running metres in Game 1, made two line breaks, scored a try and assisted in at least one other.

James Maloney, also at $8, has won a MOM award previously and if it wasn’t for his two mistakes in Game I could have easily won his second.

For the Maroons, Billy Slater’s influence cannot be underestimated as we have seen some of his best football in the Origin arena. At $15 with TAB, Slater is definitely worth a few dollars if you think that an upset is on the cards.

Of the others, don’t discount David Klemmer @ $26. The Bulldogs’ big bopper ran for 134 metres in just 29 minutes and was key to New South Wales getting out of their own end when they were struggling.

Best Bet: James Tedesco @ $8

Value Bet: David Klemmer @ $17
