MELBOURNE VICTORY V CENTRAL COAST MARINERS Wednesday night, AAMI Park
The Central Coast will be facing a mammoth task when they travel to Melbourne to take on the Victory to conclude Round 12 of the A-League.
Paul Okon's side have lost three straight and go up against a Melbourne side that has racked up four wins and a draw in their last five outings.
The Victory go into this off the back of a 2-1 win in the Melbourne Derby while Central Coast gave the Roar a good game before falling 2-1.
<b>FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS</b><br/><p></p>
It can be argued that Melbourne Victory are the form team of the competition.
They have won four of their last five games which is better than Sydney FC's record over the same period (three wins, two draws).
Victory have been averaging 2.2 goals per game during this fantastic run while holding their opponents to three clean sheets.
Central Coast have begun the season well when compared to their previous campaign, however, all their good work is starting to come undone.
A hat-trick of defeats sees them second last on the table with nine points with only the defending champions Adelaide (six points) below them.
More worrying is their 0.66 goals per game run during this three-game skid while on the flip side, their defence has conceded an unacceptable three goals per game.
It is ominous reading for the Mariners as they are without a win against the Victory in their previous nine games. Melbourne has won five of the last six between the sides and have scored an average of 2.5 goals against the Mariners in their past six clashes.
<b>HOW IT PANS OUT</b><br/><p></p>
It is hard to see a white hot Melbourne Victory outfit derailed by the Central Coast.
Besart Berisha is in fine form with five goals in his past three matches while the return of Marco Rojas last week added another dimension to their attack against Melbourne City.
Add to German Max Beister is gaining more experience in the Aleague and is becoming more familiar with the league and its tempo and their attack is set to generate plenty of problems for the Mariners.
