A convincing first leg saw Juventus control the game and manage to pull out a 2-0 victory
Higuain was the man of the moment reaping some nice profits for punters who had him as first goal scorer. Higuain bagged both goals in the game adding to his impressive tally for the season.
The game was relatively even. Monaco had more shots once they started chasing the lead and possession was split 50.3%/49.7%.
Last game preview we spoke about the defensive class of Juventus being the deciding factor in that game and once again that proved to be true. Juventus has racked up a silly amount of consecutive clean sheets in the competition (6) and have proven to be undefeated in their last 13. Better yet, after last week’s performance that makes 3 straight clean sheets against Monaco in all competitions.
That class and experience in big games was the deciding factor. Chiellini, Alves and Bonucci among others have all been there when the pressure is peaking and know how to stay settled and grind a result. Monaco is filled with youngsters and players who make some silly decisions under pressure simply due to their lack of experience.
Monaco will be out to chase a result in this one. Keeping a high press, and peppering the Juventus defence will be written on the whiteboard in the dressing room. Unfortunately for the French side it’s hard to see them going to Juventus and breaking down this cleverly coached squad.
Monaco could work their way onto the score sheet but wont be able to do it twice let alone 3 times. Juventus have been beasts at home. Monaco will leave themselves exposed at the back due to the flurry of attacks they’ll be trying to put on. Juventus should be able to pop in a goal or two of their own.
