In what is set to be one of the most electrifying finals in recent memory the Turin giants Juventus take on the might of Real Madrid in a blockbuster clash of European heavyweights.
Juventus have built their identity on the back of world-class defence with good attack. Madrid on the other hand has built their style on the back of world-class attack and a good defence.
Madrid has scored multiple goals in 11 of their 12 matches in the competition. Although, Juventus has a goal difference of +18, which is handedly the best in the competition.
I shouldn’t have to tell you that the fellas Madrid have up front in Ronaldo, Isco and Benzema are pretty special. Juventus’ attack isn’t half bad either. Accompanying Mandzukic and Dybala is a bloke called Higuain.
For those of you who don’t know his daily routine, it includes waking up, brewing a cup of delicious foreign coffee, making love to Mrs. Higuain and scoring goals. Quite a lifestyle if you ask me.
Juventus’ defence is all about the Italian defensive line. Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini, the national trio have shored Juventus’ defence right up and made it almost impenetrable.
Juventus has only allowed 3 goals in during the tournament and have gone undefeated thus far.
The last time these two met in a final was in 1997/1998, which was won by Madrid to the tune of 1-0. More recently, Juventus knocked Madrid out of the 2014/2015 competition with an aggregate score of 3-2 in the semifinal
Juventus do hold a poor record in Champions league finals losing their last 4 and being 0-2 against Spanish opposition.
I have no doubt that as kick off gets closer the betting public will be backing Real Madrid. They’re a name synonymous with success and at $2.50 odds; it’s hard to argue against the value that they hold.
If you like Madrid get on them now. By the time public bettors realize the final is to be played, money will be pouring in on Madrid and they should shorten from there.
Juventus will be playing this one with their inspirational keeper in mind. Can you believe that Gigi Buffon has never won a Champions League? That’s a fact. Three attempts with no win. The Italian number 1 has not been able to capture that elusive title.
The match will be played in Cardiff. A big game for Madrid’s Gareth Bale. Visiting his hometown to win one of the most prestigious trophies in world football has to be up there in terms of motivation to succeed.
More importantly, Madrid have the chance to go back to back and be the first team since the old school Milan side was able to secure consecutive Champions League finals.
I see this game playing out a certain way. Whichever team gets the lead will be hard-pressed to keep it.
With the amount of attacking weapons on the field I see this game coming down to the wire. Both teams should be able to find the back of the net.
Best Bet: Both teams to score
Correct Score: 1-1
First Goal scorer: Karim Benzema
Anytime Goal Scorer: Gonzalo Higuain
