The Man City juggernaut continues to roll on as they’ve now won their last 13, and though they’ve not battered anyone of late, they’ve still managed to net at least twice in all but one of the games during this sequence, winning 2-1 in each of their last three. They’ve only kept one clean sheet in their last six, and in the continued absence of John Stones can be expected to concede again as they’ve failed to shut out the opposition in each of the four games he’s missed this term. Given three of Man Utd’s last four have seen at least four goals, we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals just as there were in this fixture last term.
United have injury problems of their own with Eric Bailly still out at the back and Pogba suspended. The Frenchman’s importance has been particularly highlighted recently with United only winning one of the last four he’s missed, and further back it’s just four wins in 14 when he’s failed to start while scoring only one goal per game. That includes a W1-D2-L3 record against fellow ‘Big Six’ clubs when he’s been missing and against this City outfit we only see that regard worsening.
Given we still expect Man City to concede without Stones, while United have issues with key personnel, we’re backing Man City/both teams to score in this one. The Citizens have been grinding out wins, and we wouldn’t be surprised by a repeat of the 2-1 scoreline in this fixture last term.
