Following their World Cup triumph, France go back to the grind in the new UEFA Nations League, against the side they took over from as world champions. Germany were a disgrace in the World Cup and Joachim Löw has a rebuilding job on his hands.

France were deserving winners of the World Cup and have a mouth-watering squad at their disposal, however the Germans will undoubtedly find a way to bounce back should be bullish about their chances against the French. There may be a World Cup hangover from Didier Deschamps’ men, and I see a hard-fought draw being the most likely result.

Germany striker Timo Werner endured a disappointing, goalless tournament, but he will remain as Löw’s main man up-front against France. The 22-year-old has eight goals in 17 appearances for his country, and I’m backing him to find the net against France.
