Wolves v Newcastle Tips & Betting Preview
We could have a slow burner on our hands.
This is a fascinating matchup. Wolves are absolutely flying in the Premier League, and are clearly the 7th best side in the division, while Newcastle, who are still very much in a relegation battle, are showing plenty of fight themselves.
Nuno’s side have won their last three in the league, smashing in 10 goals, and you wonder just how far this side will go – dare I suggest a top six challenge next season?
But will they be able to break down this Newcastle side? The Magpies have won two of their last three – including that stunning victory against Manchester City – and their excellent organisation at the back may well prove a stumbling block for Wolves.
Despite the hosts’ newly found attacking potency, I’m backing under 2.5 goals as my first tip. Newcastle are just so solid, and only Liverpool and Manchester United have managed to score more than twice against them away from home.
Even more encouragingly for this tip, just 42% of Newcastle’s away games have seen over 2.5 goals go in, and with Wolves’ home figure being 38%, this one definitely has legs.
While goals may be at a premium on Tuesday morning, my next tip is for the last goal to be scored between 76 minutes and full-time.
It’s likely Wolves will be the ones to strike here, as eight of their 19 home goals have come in this period, while Newcastle have conceded a whopping 11 goals in the last 15 minutes of their matches – far more than any other time.
I guess you can call this a longshot, but I’m putting 2pts into a Newcastle & draw no bet.
Wolves are pretty strong favourites here, but certainly don’t write Newcastle off. The only away games the Magpies have lost have been to top six opposition, which remarkably means they are unbeaten in their seven trips to ‘the rest’.
Considering Watford, Huddersfield and Crystal Palace have all beaten Wolves at Molineux, $4.40 for a Newcastle & draw no bet is a great price.
