Tuesday Morning Soccer Multi
We have a tasty little $6* treble for this Tuesday's action.
St Etienne v Nimes - Ligue 1 - Tuesday 6:30 AM
Just one point separates Marseille, Reims and Saint-Etienne in the battle to secure Europa League football for next season, and it’s the latter who I’m backing to beat mid-table Nimes this weekend.
Though Saint-Etienne has lost three of their last four home matches, they all came against the top three in the league, and all by a single goal; the eight wins and two draws that preceded this small slump is more indicative of Saint-Etienne’s prowess at the Geoffroy-Guichard.
Nimes pretty much have nothing left to play for, and four defeats in their last five away games doesn’t suggest they’ll derail this multi.
Aue v Dynamo Dresden - 2. Bundesliga - 5:30 am
We have a cracking East German clash in the 2. Bundesliga, where Erzgebirge Aue host Dynamo Dresden.
It’s been tough going for the visitors of late, and one win in 11 has seen them slip to within five points of the relegation play-off. More worrying for Cristian Fiél’s side is that they’ve lost four of their last five away games (all of which without scoring), so I’m backing Aue to claim the spoils.
$2.50* is a nice price as well, particularly considering they’ve won two of their last three in the league, though they do come into this on the back of a 5-1 drubbing against Holstein Kiel before the international break.
Arsenal v Newcastle - Premier League - 6:00 am
Finally, I’m expecting Arsenal to beat Newcastle.
Though Rafa Benitez’s side generally make themselves tough to beat, three away points from their last seven matches doesn’t see them head to The Emirates in the best of shape.
Indeed, with a home record as strong as Arsenal’s (W13, D2, L1), it’s hard to make a case for anything other than a fairly routine Gunners victory.
