A-League Semi Final: Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory Preview
We are down to the final four but who will rise and progress to Season 14’s Grand Final?
Sydney FC vs. Melbourne Victory – Sunday 7:00pm – Netstrata Jubilee Stadiu
It’s a case of dejavu in the second of the A-league semis this weekend.
Sydney and Melbourne do battle for the second straight year for the right to progress to the Grand Final and you can be assured that this latest edition of the Big Blue is going to be a thriller.
Both teams have won a game apiece at Jubilee Stadium this season but there is a slight advantage for Victory as they have won two of the three encounters in 2018/19. In fact, Kevin Muscat’s side has dominated this fixture since this game 12 months ago, winning three of the four contests.
There is very little between these sides as just one goal has separated the teams the last five times they’ve played, so it is going to come down to a piece of magic from some of the big guns on the field.
Ola Toivonen has bagged two goals in three games against Sydney FC while Sky Blues marquee Milos Ninkovic has two in his past two.
There is very little between these sides (they were split by just two points on the table) and both had Asian Champions League commitments last week. If anything, Sydney will be slightly fresher having had the week off and 24 hours more to get over their ACL game midweek.
So our money is with the Sky Blues but don’t be surprised to see this one go to extra time just like last year’s epic semi.
