Brazil once again dominated but struggled to break through in their second match of the tournament but a pair of late goals means they’ll progress to the knockout stage should they avoid defeat here. Serbia know they have to come out and attack but their poor second-half display in surrendering a 1-0 lead against Switzerland in their last game shows they may not be up for the task. Serbia have failed to qualify for all of the Euros since 2000 and this is just their third World Cup since then so it’s perhaps no surprise they are a little lacking at the highest-level. Based on what we’ve seen so far Brazil should be part of everyone’s Game 3 accas at 1.53.
We expect the Selecao to get all three points, though that might not be enough to top the pool with the Swiss having the easier of the final round of fixtures, but how will they win? If Serbia’s record against South American sides is anything to go by the most likely result is a 1-0 defeat, as that’s been the score in five of their last nine such matches. With Brazil much more secure at the back under Tite it’ll be difficult for the Europeans to score. 1-0 has been the most common result at Russia 2018 so far and it’s 6.50 for the favourites to rack up another.
It’s not inconceivable that Serbia could stop Brazil from scoring though. They’ll have to nick one themselves if they are to go through but a clean sheet certainly gives them a chance, and we’ve already seen Brazil struggle to break teams down at this tournament. Furthermore, five of Brazil’s last six matches against European sides have seen at least one team fail to score .
