3 reasons why the Socceroos will qualify for the Knockout Stages and how to profit from it.

Not much was expected from the boys heading into the tournament, there is now a belief that after two impressive, that Australia can still dream of a place in the Round of 16.

90 minutes is all that separates the Socceroos from a spot in the Knockout stages of this year’s World Cup in Russia.

There is no doubting it will be tough, as results will need to go our way in both matches tonight – Australia need to defeat Peru & Denmark will need to lose to France - however, there are a few reasons to suggest we could live to see another day in Russia

  1. 1- Peru has lost their last 3 World Cup games. Yes, it has been 26 years between cups for the South American nation but this is one stat would be playing in the back of their minds of the players & staff. In fact, the last time that Los Incas tasted victory at a World Cup was way back in 1978 – since then they have played 8 matches (2 Draws & 6 Losses)

  1. 2- The Danish have a poor record against European sides in World Cups, having lost 4 of their past 5 encounters against continental rivals on the big stage. This is only compounded by the fact that they have failed to beat the French in their last 3 encounters. With names like Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé & Olivier Giroud lining up for the Les Bleus tonight, we can’t see that stat improving for the Danes.

  1.  3- It’s Timmy’s Time. This is Tim Cahill’s fourth (and most likely last) World Cup and whilst his campaign has been limited to watching from the sideline rather than on the field if there is one Socceroo who relishes this opportunity and scenario it’s Cahill. Whether it is scoring that amazing double Kaiserslautern to overcome Japan or the memorable volley in 2014 against the Dutch, you know that if he features tonight for Bert’s side he may well and truly prove the difference. Having found the back of the net an incredible 50 times in a Socceroo’s jersey, you wouldn’t put it past him to add another one to his impressive tally.
