Djokovic vs. Monfils

This pairing has played together 14 times and Novak Djokovic has been victorious on each of them. In that respect, the Serbian starts overwhelming favourite, however, it may just be worth considering a nibble on Monfils at $5+ odds. Having won the Qatar Open in the lead-up to this tournament, the Frenchman is in good form and riding high on confidence. Furthermore, he won through to the round of 64 in straight sets, displaying some incredible shot-making in the process. What’s more, Monfils took a set off Djokovic the last time they meet in a grand slam (US Open 2016, Semi-final) and will fancy his chances given Djokovic is still finding his feet after his six-month injury lay-off.

Key Stat: Monfils has taken a set off Djokovic in four of their last seven matches.

Our tip: Monfils in an upset win

Federer vs. Struff

The Fed Express didn’t have any problems finding a way past Aljaz Beden, but his next opponent may provide more of a challenge. Jan-Lennard Struff has a big game on his day and during his 1st round straight-sets win over Kwon Soon-woo hit 39 first serves, winning 34 of them. That said, it is hard to look past the reigning champ here given his good form in the lead up to the tournament as well as fact he defeated Struff in their only previous match.

Key Stat: Jan Struff last reached the 2nd round of a grand slam in 2014.

Our tip: Federer to win and take the first set in under 8.5 games

Barty vs. Giorgi

Australian Ashleigh Barty takes to the Rod Laver Arena court tonight against Italian challenger Camila Giorgi. This pairing has played twice previously with Barty winning on both occasions. Form in the lead-up to this tournament has been good for both players with Barty winning through to the final of the Sydney International whilst Giorgi lost in the semi-final to eventual winner Angelique Kerber. Betting wise, Barty starts favourite but her 79st ranked opponent can’t be written off and at $2+ odds will tempt a few.

Key Stat: Camila Giorgi made it past the 1st Round in only one of the four grand slams last year.

Our tip: Barty to win
