Edmund vs. Dimitrov

Plenty are talking up the chances of relatively unknown Brit Kyle Edmund in his first ever Grand Slam quarter final. Although victory remains unlikely, the 23-year old could trouble his Bulgarian opponent and expectations are of a hard fought match for the No.3 seed. Entering this match on the back of a four-set epic with Nick Kyrgios, Dimitrov is a $1.30 favourite whilst Edmund is at $3.50 after an Aussie Open campaign that has featured two five-setters. For the record, these players have met twice previously with Dimitrov the victor on both occasions. That said, both victories weren’t overly dominant with Edmund taking a set from his higher ranked opponent in each match.

Key Stat: Grigor Dimitrov has only won in straight sets once this tournament.

Our tip: Dimitrov to win in four

Nadal v Cilic

In what shapes as an epic, powerful serving Marin Cilic and former Aussie Open champ Rafael Nadal will lock horns under lights on Rod Laver Arena. The form of both men coming into this match is good and neither has had to play a five-setter to reach this point. However, Cilic’s 4th round match against No.10 seed Pablo Carreno Busta did feature three tie-breaks and took almost 3.5 hours to complete. A look at the players’ H2H record shows Nadal well on top (5-1) with Cilic’s sole victory taking place in 2009. In that respect, Nadal starts the outright favourite with Cilic at a juicy $4.33 to spring the upset.

Our tip: Nadal to win in four
