Australia Day is less than two weeks away and voting for the Hottest 100 has begun to heat up. So what tunes offer significant overs with the bookies as the countdown approaches?
With the help of Nick Whyte’s hilariously-named 100 Warm Tunas, the internet's most accurate prediction of Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2016, we’ve identified the songs to back home at smart odds.
Whyte’s algorithm is updated daily and collects screenshots from Instagram tagged with hashtags such as #hottest100, #triplejhottest100, etc. So far over 35,000 votes have been counted across roughly 4,700 images.
That leaves us with a sample size of about 2.4% and provides punters with a pretty accurate list of where songs will appear in the countdown!

100 Warm Tunas shows Flume’s Never Be Like You and Amy Shark’s Adore to be neck-and-neck for top spot with 654 votes and 678 votes respectively. However it’s been an entirely different story on the betting markets.
While Never Be Like You has enjoyed outright favouritism since early December, Adore opened at $13 but has since been crunched all the way into $4.25 best odds (Bet365) in recent days.
When you consider Amy Shark is one of Triple J’s Unearthed Feature Artists, and will have the hipsters firmly in her corner, those odds are very handy indeed.
Another song that’s received solid support recently, Childish Gambino’s Redbone looks likely to sneak into the Top 5. 100 Warm Tunas has the funky tune in fifth position with 400 votes thus far.
Donald Glover was all the talk of Falls Festival, putting in some unreal performances over the New Year period. That momentum should see the $1.87 best odds with Sportsbet for Redbone to finish in the Top 5 firm even further. The $21 on offer for it to win is also worth a small flutter.
Miike Snow’s Genghis Khan is undoubtedly the best roughie on offer. 100 Warm Tunas has it sitting 15th with 263 votes and this fresh song has been trending upwards for weeks now.
What’s particularly tempting is the massive difference in bookie odds. Bet365 are offering punters $81 best odds for Miike Snow to take out top spot, which looks valuelicious compared to the 34.00 odds elsewhere.
Genghis Khan could be the first of many surprises in 2017 and punters shouldn’t miss out at these odds.
Aussie’s clearly love Peking Duk and the duo’s latest hit, Stranger could be worth a flutter for top 3. 100 Warm Tunas has it in 9th spot with 307 votes, but don’t write this banger off just yet!
Stranger has recently experienced a resurgence on the ARIA charts. The song now sits at an all-time high of 5th, which is up from 7th just last week.
If the trend continues, punters can expect Peking Duk to receive some strong air-time on commercial radio over the coming weeks. The $6 odds Sportsbet are offering for Stranger to secure a top 3 position probably won't last, nor the $26 price about it actually winning.
