Whittaker out to defend his title - UFC 225 - Whittaker v Romero
Rob Whittaker defends his Middleweight title against Yoel Romero
Whittaker v Romero preview
Australian Robert Whittaker is seeing early support across several corporates to beat Yoel Romero when the pair face off at UFC 225 in Chicago this weekend.
It is ‘The Reaper’s’ first title defence of his middleweight crown and comes into the fight on an unbeaten run of four years and eight fights.
He reached the top of the division by knocking off Cuba’s Romero when they fought at UFC 213 last July for the interim Middleweight title. Romero fought dirty and stomped on Whittaker’s knee in the early stages of the fight, forcing him to continue with an injury. Despite a busted knee, Whittaker still fought to the death and won the title by unanimous decision.
This time around, Whittaker is fighting fit and is in the best form of his career.
With no pre-existing injuries to report and no health issues, Whittaker is confident that he will deliver Romero’s first KO defeat of his career. We are sticking with the aussie to get the job done.
Looking for some value? Whittaker by knockout is $2.85 @ TAB in the Method of Victory market. If the fight was to go the full five rounds then Whittaker on Points is one to also consider at $3.10.
An interesting point is that Romero does have a tendency to tire out in the middle rounds and a result in round three to Whittaker looks a juicy option also.
