Forecast Prices: Firestep 7/2, Imperial Storm 6/1, Neon Moon 5/1, Gerard Mentor 7/1, All Shook Up 4/1, Steady The Ship 13/2, Midnight Centurion 16/1, Curio Bay 12/1, Make A Deal 20/1, Fair Skip 25/1

Sporting Life Preview

All Shook Up and Curio Bay are both bred for jumping and worth a market check in what is probably an above-average bumper. Make A Deal is a full brother to smart hurdler Polly Peachum and Neon Moon is from the same family as Saturday’s Haydock winner Perfect Candidate. Imperial Storm is very interesting as he’s a half-brother to the useful Krugermac and his yard have a terrific strike-rate in bumpers, especially around here. But FIRESTEP is also from a stable that does well here and the Mahler gelding can make a winning debut ahead of Ascot third Steady The Ship and Hereford runner-up Gerard Mentor.

oddschecker Verdict

FIRESTEP was due to run in the Listed bumper at Cheltenham earlier in the month, before being withdrawn due to testing conditions, which suggests that he must be showing a fair amount to connections at home. He gets the nod on his racecourse debut but there are a whole host of rivals that make considerable appeal which are headed by All Shook Up, a 105,000 euros purchase at the Goffs Land Rover sale, and Imperial Storm, who is from the family of top-class jumpers Thisthatandtother and Carlingford Lough.

Prediction: 1st Firestep, 2nd All Shook Up, 3rd Imperial Storm
