Sporting Life Preview

EDWARDSTONE sets a very fair standard on his debut second at Newbury, where he looked in need of the experience. He holds Keep Rolling on that run, though Philip Hobbs’ charge also looks a nice prospect. Versatility is a half-brother to middle-distance winner Storm Force Ten so shouldn’t be short of speed and will know what’s required. The Captains Inn changed hands for £220,000 after finishing second in a Lingstown maiden between the flags in March so is another interesting contender with Green Dolphin and Fitzroy others representing powerful NH yards.

Oddschecker Verdict

Ben Pauling saddled the winner of this contest in 2014 and 2015 and he has an interesting representative in The Captains Inn, who placed between the flags before being bought for 220,000 pounds. Green Dolphin and Fitzroy are worth a market check at least ahead of their respective debuts for powerful connections, but it could pay to side with the bumper experience of EDWARDSTONE. He had Keep Rolling (fifth) behind when a promising second first time out at Newbury and normal improvement will make him tough to beat.

Prediction: 1st Edwardstone, 2nd The Captains Inn, 3rd Green Dolphin
