Pulis now favourite to be the first manager to leave

The West Brom manager was 5/1 this morning but is now evens as he considers his future.

The relationship between manager Tony Pulis and West Brom’s owners has apparently deteriorated beyond repair, on the back of a disagreement over their summer transfer dealings. Albion managed to sign Matt Phillips, Brendan Galloway on loan as well as Nacer Chadli for a club-record fee, but both fans and Pulis were left thoroughly underwhelmed after adding only Allan Nyom and Hal Robson-Kanu on deadline day.

Once the window closed, unrest in the camp prompted chairman, John Williams, to release a statement discussing their transfers. Pulis, angry at not being able to add a top midfielder, is said to be frustrated with Williams’ comments, especially: “Tony wanted five [signings] and we got five.” The West Brom manager is considering his future as the club prepare for the challenge of yet another relegation threatened season.

Bookmakers were offering 16/1 at the start of the season and 5/1 this morning, but Pulis is now the even-money favourite to be the first manager to leave.
