Owls backed to steel back the bragging rights

Owls backed to steel back the bragging rights

The second Steel City Derby takes place tonight at Bramall Lane and there is a new manager in the dug-outs.

It had been over five years since these two had last met before their meeting back in September and it was an absolute cracker. The Blades scored four at Hillsborough for the first time in their history and it was the former Wednesday player, Leon Clarke, who scored a brace and put the final nail in Wednesday’s coffin. The striker is best priced at 8/1 to repeat the trick and another 4-2 score line is a massive 80/1 with Sky Bet.

United are best priced at 4/5, who sit 12 points ahead of their arch rivals but one win in nine league games is hardly convincing form. With three home defeats in five, 34% of Oddschecker punters believe that a Wednesday win at 17/4 is a price worth backing and a further 19% believe the draw at best price of 27/10 is also value.

Jos Luhukay will take charge of the Owls for the first time tonight and although this game won’t define his managerial career, it will certainly be a match which could win over the fans. He’s caught the Blades at a good time and he may well come away with Bramall Lane with some vital points.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: "Chris Wilder has an excellent record in derby games, but punters are happy to take a chance on Wednesday at a big price in tonight's game. The red side of Sheffield have the bragging rights at the moment, and remain odds-on to do the double over their old foes."
