The Caspian Caviar Gold Cup may still be over a week away but Oddschecker has still seen a large number of bets on the current ante-post favourite Waiting Patiently.
Malcolm Jefferson’s exciting chaser is currently four from four over the larger obstacles beating the likes of Forest Bihan and Politologue in the process. His last victory came at Carlilse on his seasonal reappearance in November where he landed a Listed Chase with the minimum of fuss.
A potential pop at this weekend’s John Durkan was mooted by connections, but they look set to take their chance at Cheltenham on the 16th of December in which the six-year-old has been allotted top weight.
Since the news broke he would not be taking on the likes of Sizing John and Djakadam, Oddschecker has seen a number of large bets at odds as big as 11/1 for the northern raider. In fact, he is responsible for 100% of all bets placed on the ante-post market this week.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The form of Malcolm Jefferson’s chaser makes plenty of appeal and he’s done little wrong so far over fences. The Caspian Gold Cup will certainly be his biggest test to date, but if he can come out on top whilst carrying top weight, it’s likely connections will be looking beyond handicaps for the remainder of the season. He’s currently priced up at 33/1 for the real Gold Cup in March and still only a six-year-old, there should still be plenty of improvement in him.”
