Gordon Elliott’s superstar has already been backed for the 2019 race.
It was a Grand National to remember for Gordon Elliott and everyone connected with Tiger Roll: The smallest horse in the field who showed the biggest heart on the biggest stage.
His dramatic win by a nose will be remembered for years to come and gave Elliott his second victory in the race, the first of which was Silver Birch back in his debut training season in 2006.
The horse went off at general odds of 10/1, making him the shortest priced SP winner since Don’t Push It who also went off at 10s in 2010.
With 356 days until the next showing of the event, bookies are already offering odds for the 2019 edition, and Tiger Roll’s name appears at the top of the embryonic market.
You can get odds of 25/1 for the eight-year-old to become the first horse to win back-to-back Nationals since Red Rum and we’ve seen as many bets on this happening than for any other horse.
The only horse to receive the same number of bets is One For Arthur, the 2017 winner who can be found at a best price of 33/1.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “With yesterday’s dramatic race fresh in everyone’s minds, some punters already want to back Tiger Roll for next year’s race. A massively popular winner (not least for the money he would have cost the bookies), another National win would surely put him amongst the all time greats.”
