The best attack in the league faces the best defence as Leicester face Man United.
Leicester v Man Utd - Saturday 17:30, Sky Sports 1
The top two in the league face off and it’s the best attack against the best defence. Any regular watchers might be surprised how this has happened; United certainly haven’t been the second best team this season and another dismal midweek display merely confirmed that. Leicester, meanwhile, aren’t just the best team over the last 13 games, they are the best over the last 22, though they’ve faced neither Manchester side, Chelsea, nor Liverpool this term and were thumped 5-2 by Arsenal.
This game saw eight goals last season and there’s no reason to expect Leicester to abandon their approach that has resulted in Over 2.5 Goals landing in eight of their last nine games. Van Gaal’s team might not be exciting the fans – four nil-nils in seven games is an embarrassment for a club of Man Utd’s traditions – but five of their last six Premier League away matches have had at least three goals as they seemingly score at least twice if they can get one.
Leicester have lost only two of their last 22 games and one of these was against Chelsea last season when they were the better team for much of the match. Given they’ve won nine of their last 12 home matches and won this fixture 5-3 last season the Foxes look a decent price at 11/5 but, as we mentioned before, those wins were all against worse teams than United. The Red Devils have won 10 of their last 21 away games and seven of those victories were despite conceding – when they keep a clean sheet they often fail to score themselves – while half the wins have come after being level at half-time.
Of course Leicester have developed a reputation as second half kings themselves this season. 10 of their 13 matches have had at least two second-half goals with eight seeing the second 45 minutes as the highest scoring half. We’ll leave the match outcome alone here but we can expect Leicester’s attacking spirit to create a more open game than many or Man Utd’s recent encounters and Over 1.5 Goals in the 2nd Half is certainly worth considering at 6/5.
