The Black Cats have won just five of their last 23 home games while losing 11 times and that includes just one win in 11 matches against top-half teams albeit with five draws. They have scored in five of their last six matches though.
Liverpool have lost as many away matches as they’ve won since the start of last season and have won just three of their last 14 road trips. However, their record improves significantly when at bottom-six teams as they’ve won eight of their last 13 trips, though they’ve kept just one clean sheet in that time. They also have an excellent record against Sunderland with four wins in their last five meetings. However, they’ve been comfortably beaten at Watford and Newcastle in their last two away matches and are surely too inconsistent to be backing at 1.75. Both teams have scored in 10 of Liverpool’s last 13 trips to bottom-six teams and in five of Sunderland’s last eight at home against top-half sides. Big Sam has picked a fairly attacking side in the past couple of games and with a defence that has conceded more than any other side this season there’s a good chance both teams will find the net.
