Boxing Day was a good round for Man City fans as both Leicester and Arsenal were beaten after they had the bonus of seeing Man Utd suffer another poor defeat. However, if they are going to win the title they will surely need to improve their away form and that starts with a trip to the leaders.
Leicester suffered their first loss in 12 games on Saturday, and only their third in the last 27, but against teams that finished in the top seven last term they’ve gone just W1-D3-L2 this season, and against those same sides last season they lost four of seven home matches. City have not won in five away games and they’ve scored just three times in the last six on the road. Since the start of last season they’ve won half their 16 trips to top-half sides and six of those successes have come by more than one goal. Consistency has been the problem for City but when they are good they tend to be excellent and backing them on the handicap to win by more than one at 3.35 is probably the best way to go in the match outcome markets.
The Foxes trip to Anfield was the first time they’d failed to score this season but City’s defence has been giving up plenty of goals in recent months and with Vincent Kompany back on the injury list the title favourites may struggle to keep Vardy and Mahrez at bay. City have managed just one clean sheet in the last 12 away games the skipper has failed to start as eight of the matches had at least three goals and six had four or more. Eight of Leicester’s last 12 home games have had at least three goals while both teams have scored in eight of their last nine matches here and with Sergio Aguero expected to return to City’s XI we could see plenty of goals.
