Our strategy has worked so far with our single selection policy returning profit but there is a nagging feeling we have to be more ambitious during these early stages of the tournament.
So that’s what we shall do. We’re tearing up our 4-4-2 and we’re going for three at the back, with a diamond in midfield and a false 9!
This can only end well…
France win/both teams to score - £4 stake WINNER returns £14.32
France 3-1 - £1 stake LOSER
Switzerland to beat Albania – 6-7 £14.32 Stake WINNER returns £26.59
Poland to beat NI – 3-4 £16.59 Stake WINNER returns £29.03
Running Total: £44.03
The current Champions Spain start the show today as they face a Czech side who many expect to finish bottom of Group D (a 7-5 snip if you fancy it). Although Vincente del Bosque’s suffered a shock defeat to Georgia in their final warm up game, they should still have too much for what looks a very poor Czech side. Odds of 6-13 reflect this however and having been stung by a Spaniard in our last challenge (that’s right Mr Ferrer, we’re talking about you!) we’re reluctant to stake all of our purse on such a short price so early into this heroic undertaking.
Instead we’re delving a bit deeper into the markets and we’ve found what we think is some tasty value.
A Spanish victory to nil is a very attractive price at 11-10 and we’ll be backing Ramos, Pique and co to shut out a rather blunt Czech attack.
As for the stake, we shall keep it simple with a nice round £15
Selection: Spain to win to nil
We’ll also be adding another feather to our bow/cap (whatever that means) by backing the Spanish to win both halves at 12-5. They have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to attacking talent and with plenty of competition for places, we can see those given a starting berth eager to impress with a fast start. Follow that with the quality from the bench in the second half and it should ensure there will be no let up for the Czechs for the full 90 minutes.
Stake wise, we’re going for £9.03 to keep the running total nice and rounded.
Selection: Spain to win both halves
