With Arsenal missing out on Jamie Vardy last week we take a look at where they can turn to next to avoid another summer of disappointment.
With the transfer window opening this week and looking at the betting markets it doesn’t appear Arsenal are all that close to sealing the signature of any of the World’s top marksmen.
Morata still looks like an option, even though he Real Madrid have just exercised a buy-back clause to bring him back from Juventus. With Chelsea and Manchester City showing interest in the in-form striker, it is very debatable if Arsenal would head his list of preferred destinations.

They are second favourites at 3/1, behind his current club Liverpool 1/3, for where Daniel Sturridge will be after the summer transfer window. It now looks like Sturridge has settled his grievances with Liverpool from last season and looks set to stay on Merseyside.
Karim Benzema, a player constantly linked with Arsenal, also looks likely to stay at his club, Real Madrid, with Morata possibly on the way out. Any optimistic Arsenal fans can get 13/2 on him being at the Emirates by the end of the summer.
A more realistic option definitely looked like Romelu Lukaku. Now that Ronald Koeman has been appointed, the Belgian striker looks happy to stay put for now and new owner Farhad Moshiri has reportedly put a £75 million price tag on his head. That has pushed Arsenal out to 11/1 in places for his signature. You can’t help but think that if Wenger would have force the issue at the end of the season, when Lukaku was reportedly unsettled, he may well have got his man.
As it stands, Arsenal look to have missed out on Lukaku, especially as it would be difficult to see Wenger paying over around £40 million for him. It now looks like he will have look further afield once again to avoid another summer of disappointment for Arsenal fans.
