Rob Handley looks at Lukaku's possible move to Chelsea
Romelu Lukaku has been linked with many clubs, including Real Madrid (16/1), Arsenal (3/1), Barcelona (10/1) and Chelsea over the last year or so. The latter, who are of course his former employers, have come in to as short as 5/4 to be his club after the summer transfer window, which is supported by a whole host of media speculation that the blues are lining him up to replace Diego Costa, if he moves back to Atletico Madrid.
“The Belgian Drogba” completed loan spells (from Chelsea) at West Brom and Everton, before completing a permanent move to the blue side of Merseyside for a club record £28 million. For Premier League sides, he has returned 60 goals from 139 appearances and helped Everton to a 5th place finish in 2013/14. He is probably the closest thing to Drogba in the world currently playing.
Only Aguero, Kane and Ibrahimovic are shorter to be the Premier League’s top scorer this season and at 12/1, Lukaku offers great value for punters. If a move to his former employers is completed by the start of the season, which at this stage looks a strong possibility, you’d expect a greater return this season from the big man as a main striker at a top 4 and potentially title contending club.
Fancy Lukaku to be top scorer, wherever he is and Man City to win the title? A Lukaku/Man City Premier League winner/Top Goalscorer at 40/1 looks excellent value, whilst Lukaku/Man United and Lukaku/Chelsea double return 66/1 and 80/1 respectively. Tasty indeed.
