Everton v Tottenham Hotspur - Saturday 15:00
Two former Southampton mangers meet here as Everton look to get back to challenging for European spots whilst Spurs will be eager to get over their disappointing end to last season that saw them somehow manage to finish below their North London rivals – as they’ve done every year since 1995.
The Toffees lost more than they won at Goodison last season under Roberto Martinez, who’s somehow managed to land himself the Belgium job, and they lost four of their games against top-five finishers. However, they did manage a 1-1 draw with Spurs and have lost this fixture only once in the past nine seasons.
Pochettino’s men only lost three road games all season, two of which were their opening and concluding matches, but they managed only five clean sheets. Indeed, Spurs are notoriously poor starters and have lost their opening game in six of the last 10 seasons so it’s worth backing the Toffees to start strongly under the excellent Koeman.
