It’s Thursday and it’s time to run through the day’s biggest bets.
Top of the pile today is a bet in anticipation of the start of the Europa League tonight. One punter has put their faith in Schalke by whacking £950 on the Germans to top Group I. At best-price 11/10 (4/6 in places) they are definitely fancied to do so but they’ll have to beat off competition from Krasnodar, Nice and Salzburg. Fingers crossed it’s a formality.
Hot on the tail is an £850 bet on Brick Lane. The 3-year-old filly will be running in the 19:20 at Chelmsford City this evening and is the best-price 5/4 favourite as things stand. She has been backed in from 5/2 overnight so it might be worth your while jumping on board!
In at number three it’s that man Donald Trump. He’s featured a couple of times this week having been cut to his shortest price to date on the back of Hillary Clinton’s health scare. He remains 7/4 to become the next US President and we’ve seen one £400 bet on Donald to trump his rival.
Europa League hopefuls Villarreal feature next. The Yellow Submarine welcome Zurich to El Madrigal tonight at 20:05 and are best-price 1/3 to get the better of the Swiss side. Interesting, Zurich were relegated from the Swiss top-flight last season and only qualified for the Europa League by winning the domestic cup. The biggest bet on Villarreal tonight stands at £325.
The NFL continues tonight with action from Buffalo, where the Bills take on the New York Jets. The bookies make the Jets the slight favourites for this one but expect it to be a close game. The fifth biggest punt of the day however is a £280 bet on the Buffalo Bills to claim the win. Let’s see what happens.
