Ryan Eliott has one selection at 2/1 for Werder Bremen v Borussia Monchengladbach
Despite being outclassed by a thoroughly good Leverkusen side over the weekend, Borussia Monchengladbach are still very much in the battle for the top four, and they’re not a side to be written off after one defeat against strong opposition.
Marco Rose’s men were perhaps a little under-par on Saturday, but I expect them to roar back on Tuesday with a victory against struggling Werder Bremen.
The hosts secured a much, much needed win over Freiburg on Saturday to vastly improve their chances of survival—which was given a further boost on Sunday after Fortuna Dusseldorf threw away a two-goal lead at Koln—but despite this result, they will simply be no match for a far superior Gladbach outfit.
With home advantage pretty much irrelevant now, it’s hard to see how Gladbach, who have scored 53 times this season, fail to find joy against a Bremen defence who have conceded 59 goals – the second-most in the league.
Bremen have a little momentum, which has seen bookies offer slightly more generous prices for an away win that they otherwise would have, and I’m happy to take advantage of this.
Therefore, I’m backing Gladbach to win and both teams to score.
Both teams have found the net in 70% of Gladbach’s fixtures this season, and while they look pretty handy going forward, the way they defended against Leverkusen – particularly from the corner leading to Sven Bender’s goal – will give Bremen a sliver of hope of at least scoring.
Bremen haven’t beaten Gladbach in the league since 2015, and considering the vast gulf in class between the two outfits as things stand, I can only see this run continuing.
