Over 2.5 Goals

It’s getting desperate for Bournemouth now. The Cherries are on a five-game losing run and have taken just a single point from the last 24 available. Eddie Howe has looked dejected on the touchline as he just can’t strike the right balance to get the 3 points. A draw would keep them in touching distance but they really need a win to put the cat amongst the pigeons and to renew confidence.

Thankfully for them they’re coming up against a Tottenham side with just three away wins all season. That’s right, three. It’s a sorry record and gaffer José Mourinho often looks content if they get a draw on the road.

They’ve been underwhelming from what I’ve seen of them. Even in home wins over West Ham and Everton, they were helped by shoddy performances of their opposition and didn’t seem to have much fluidity to their play. They went off at a similar price at Sheffield United which gets more bizarre with every passing day, going by that I’m surprised they’re not shorter to beat the second bottom side on Thursday evening.

I still can’t back a team with 3/16 victories on the road at odds-on, and although they’re poor I’d argue the value would be with Bournemouth at 17/4. But from the eye test I can’t bring myself to back them either.

One thing that has stood out in respective home/away form of these two is goals. 12/16 Bournemouth home games have seen three or more goals whereas 10/16 Spurs away games have broke the over 2.5 barrier. That makes the 4/5 about over 2.5 goals here an enticing play.
