Sevilla vs Chelsea - 20:00 - Wednesday

There might not be an awful lot riding on this fixture at the Ramon Sanchez Pijzuan on the face of it with both sides expectedly progressing to the knockout stages with ease. That being said, top spot in the group could be fundamental and given it goes down to head-to-head results then Chelsea can’t really afford to lose or else they’ll be relying on Sevilla to slip up in Rennes on matchday 6.

If the Blues do get a draw in Andalusia then their superior goal difference should be enough to see them top the group as long as they equal or better Sevilla’s result next week. It means that this one could be a tight encounter with neither side willing to give much away. Both sides have seldom lost of late either so the stalemate at 5/2 could be a clever way in, it’s the biggest price of the three.

Where is the value?

Lampard could bring in the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and the man who grabbed the last gasp winner in France, Olivier Giroud, as he looks to freshen up his squad with a bumper fixture run-in on the horizon. He will be relieved to have everyone back fit and available and confident that he can continue their fine form, a draw would be a good result for Chelsea and they should be confident having remained unbeaten in their last 14 games.

Also a word for two players who may be happy to take a card on Wednesday night given the dynamics at play. Midfielders Jorginho and Joan Jordan are both one card away from a one game suspension and the chances are they’d both happily take one here in order to miss the last group stage game which will mean they can be back for the knockout stages. Both players are quite heavily odds-on but it could be one to monitor in-play if the prices increase.
