The current form guide actually makes rather pleasurable viewing for Arsenal fans. They played against the same opponent just last week in the FA Cup and ran out winners after extra time, something Mikel Arteta will take heart from.

Arteta has clearly had a focus on solidifying the back line this season and it is starting to bare fruit. That being said, their attacking process leaves a lot to be desired and without the creativity of Fenerbache-bound Mesut Ozil in between the lines, they’ve struggled to supply the frontmen sue to a keenness to have a solid shape off the ball.

Pressure is once more growing on Steve Bruce in the Newcastle dugout after a timid display at rock bottom Sheffield United last time out. The sheer lack of ambition in a game against a team low confidence will have riled Toon fans and rightly so, it’s hard to see Bruce lasting the season. He has welcomed back Allan Saint-Maximin back to training after the winger has recovered from COVID but he is unlikely to feature here.

Expected the visitors to sit back in their defensive 5-4-1 set up and ask Arsenal to break them down. With Arsenal failing to put many teams away and given they’re a short enough price to win I will head to the winning margin market and take the Gunners to win by exactly one goal at 5/2.

4/7 Arsenal wins have come by the odd goal, including the reverse meeting between these two earlier in the season. Newcastle have lost by the single goal in their last 2 games and a repeat looks a nice price here in what could be a snoozefest.
