Betting Tip: Southampton to win
Sheffield United have just started to pick up after an underwhelming start back in the second tier. Back-to-back wins over Peterborough and Hull would’ve been expected pre-season though so despite an improvement we need to see how they fare against decent opposition and a premier league side in Southampton should supply that.
The Blades have allowed some youngsters to start in this competition so far, the likes of Zak Brunt and Kacper Lopata have probably done enough to start once again.
Slavisa Jokanovic may have his hand forced in terms of making changes though with loanees Conor Hourihane and Morgan Gibbs-White ineligible. McGoldrick, Berge, O’Connell, Stevens and Mousset are also out so they will be understrength.
Southampton have looked better of late, especially at the back. Ralph Hassenhuttl will be pleased with their points of late given their opposition has recently included both Manchester clubs. He may make changes but there is quality that can come in.
Betting Tip: Armando Broja to score anytime
Armando Broja impressed off the bench vs West Ham hitting the woodwork. He is likely to start here and odds of 13/5 on the Chelsea loanee to score look very tempting against an inexperienced backline. He bagged a brace in the last round.
I’ll also happily take the 5/4 on the Saints to win the game. I expect them to field a strong side whereas Sheffield United aren’t going to field the same side as they had at the weekend.
