Betting Tip: Both Teams to score
Claudio Ranieri makes his return to the English top-flight this weekend in the early Saturday game and it couldn’t be a tougher start as he faces Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. It would be remiss to write off Ranieri sides after his exploits not only with Leicester but also in Italy too, he’s pulled off some major scalps and it’ll be interesting to see if the Hornets can benefit from a new manager bounce.
It’s commonplace for the Watford hierarchy to turnover managers swiftly and it has largely been a successful exercise. Ranieri himself will know he’s not going to be there long term but his experience could be pivotal in keeping them up this season, having said that it didn’t work when Fulham hired him in a similar predicament.
Maybe they’ll have a chance of causing Liverpool a few problems here though. The Reds will be without lynchpin Fabinho as well as key keeper Alisson as they’re still with Brazil, Roberto Firmino didn’t receive a call up though so he should be fresh. There are doubts around the fitness of Diogo Jota and Thiago too, neither are likely to be fit in time to feature so it is not going to be their strongest XI and Klopp will also have an eye on the Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid midweek.
That being said, the Reds have excelled in forward areas and put a few sides to the sword so instead of taking Watford on a handicap I’ll plump for both teams to score at even-money.
Betting Tip: Andy Robertson to be carded
One bet I’m always keen on is the left-back of Watford opposition to be carded. Why? Because they’re up against the heavily fouled Ismaila Sarr. This week it should be Andy Robertson who has the unenviable task of keeping tabs on the Senegal star. He’s a chunky 7/1 to go into the book and is on the back of a card this international break.
