17:00 Sunday

Sunday is the day of goals my friends and I’ve been looking through the fixtures for this Sunday to dig out a little BTTS treble for us…

Empoli vs Roma - Both Teams to Score

In their first season since promotion from Serie B, Empoli really are taking the bull by the horns. Sat 11th in Serie A they are by some distance outperforming the sides who were promoted with them and a win on Sunday against Roma could move them into the top half. Results haven’t gone their way as of late, but if there’s one thing you can guarantee With Empoli, it’s entertainment. These are two sides who have scored in 82% and 80% and conceded in 100% and 80% of home and away games respectively this season, both bombing forwards and both leaky at the back. In their last six games each in all competitions, Empoli have seen BTTS in all six and Roma in five and with both needing a win here to keep their top six hopes alive, I think BTTS looks a really decent shout.

17:30 Sunday

Mechelen vs Anderlecht - Both Teams to Score

Two sides both sitting inside the top eight as things stand and it’s a tightly packed midfield with only 6pts between these two who sit 7th and 4th respectively. Anderlecht have scored nearly as many goals as league leaders Union St Gilloise this season but haven’t quite seen their level of return from those goals thanks to a poor start to their campaign. They’ve hit form though and have been gradually climbing the ladder. Their run hit a stumbling block last time out, conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Standard, but that stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions, scoring in all of those. Mechelen, however, are the joint best home team in Belgium having collected 23pts from a possible 33 on home soil this season. Only two sides have been to Mechelen and won this season and not even league leadersSt Gilloise nor 2nd placed Club Brugge came away from here with any points, both losing 2-1. This fixture also has a fantastic record of goals in it with 8 of their last 9 meetings here at Mechelen seeing both teams find the net.

19:00 Sunday

RKC Waalwijk vs Fortuna Sittard - Both Teams to Score

The final selection comes from two sides at the wrong end of the Eredivisie in a huge game in the battle for survival. RKC sit 14th in the league but are just 4pts ahead of the relegation playoffs, while Sittard are right in the thick of it, 5pts adrift of safety as things stand. Sittard have the worst defence in the Dutch top tier this season having shipped 48 goals in 19 games, but they always seem to have that sneaky ability to nick a goal wherever they go. They’ve scored more goals this season than any of the other three sides around them and a perfect example of what they can do is in their last game against AZ, 0-2 down in the 85th minute before nicking a consolation. Neither of these pair have covered themselves in glory defensively this year and in the past that’s been apparent when they’ve met with their meeting earlier this season ending 2-2 and their last five H2H’s seeing both teams find the net.
