15:00 Sunday

France will look to book their place in the quarter-final of the 2022 World Cup when they face Poland on Sunday. Poland looked out of their depth against Argentina and will be keen for a better performance, but can they contain the reigning world champions?

France vs Poland Stats

  • Adrien Rabiot has registered seven shots across his three appearances at this World Cup
  • Poland are likely to sit deep and this will invite shots from distance
  • France have won the corner count in all of their matches so far by an aggregate of 22-12, conceding seven of those with a weaker lineup against Tunisia

France vs Poland Prediction

Betting Tip: France -4 corner handicap

Once again I like the look of a corner handicap in this World Cup as I think it could be a straight up attack versus defence. Poland have seen less possession than their opposition in all three of their group games and we saw against Argentina that when the Polish come up against decent opposition, they have a tendency to want to sit a bit deeper.

I think we’ll see that again here as they look to leave minimal space for the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele to burst into. They’ll look to force them wide and away from the danger areas but with a man like Olivier Giroud up top, France won’t mind corner situations.

Les Bleus will try and play to their strengths but they could be frustrated here. Poland will rarely venture into the final third of the pitch and I don't see them earning too many corners. As such, France should be able to cover a -4 corner handicap in this round of 16 tie

France -4 Corner Handicap - 1.5pts @ 11/10

Betting Tip: Adrien Rabiot 2+ shots

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has enjoyed his return to international football after previously refusing to be a back up. Despite playing in the holding role, he hasn’t been shy of having efforts on goal and that’s evident by the fact he has hit seven shots across the three group stage matches, two of which when he came on as a substitute against Tunisia.

It looks likely that Poland will be sitting deep and that should invite the shots. Rabiot regularly lets a shot off and he’s a very generous 9/5 to have at least two efforts at goal.

As previously mentioned, France will dominate and play the majority of the match inside the Polish half and I'm expecting a high number of shots in total. Even if Poland somehow manage to get their noses in front, that would be a good situation for these picks as France go chasing.

Adrien Rabiot, although an extremely small sample size, has averaged 2.33 shots per game and I like the price on him hitting at least two in total.
