Football expert Ryan Elliott has picked out two tips for Saturday's game between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt are slipping deeper and deeper into trouble. While it’s always hard to recover losing your best players—Sebastien Haller, Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic—Frankfurt, last season’s Europa League semi-finalists, find themselves in a genuine relegation battle.
Their performance against Borussia Monchengladbach was worryingly ordinary, and it’s hard to see them significantly improve enough to lay a glove on Bayern this Saturday.
Hansi Flick’s side did what they had to do in order to beat a spirited Union Berlin on Sunday, and I can see them registering a much more convincing victory over a rudderless Frankfurt side this time around.
Eintracht’s 5-1 win against Bayern—which cost Niko Kovac his job—feels like an age ago, but the three meetings before that saw the Bavarians beat Frankfurt 5-1, 3-0 and 5-0, so I’m going to tip another big win for the champions, with a -2 handicap.
While form is largely irrelevant, Bayern have only conceded in six of their 16 games since Kovac’s departure, and this defensive improvement always benefits handicap markets.
Couple this with the resurgence of assist-machine Thomas Muller, and you have a very dangerous customer indeed.
Frankfurt’s recent 4-0 defeats to Leverkusen and Dortmund will see Flick and his side licking their lips.
I’m also throwing 0.5pts each at a couple of correct score tips: 3-0 and 4-0 to Bayern.
Considering their firepower, I’m fairly confident Bayern will score at least three times on Saturday—particularly after watching how poorly Frankfurt defended against Gladbach—and should they fulfil this prediction, it’s likely one of these tips will land with a Manuel Neuer clean sheet.
Bayern have notched up five 3-0 or 4-0 wins this campaign, and I’m feeling good about another.
